Comes with 3 1.5V batteries to be installed by an adult (directions on package). 

 

The Luminator measures 14"L when closed and 22-1/2''L when fully extended.

These Blasters are new, however they do show storage wear.  The foam shows some denting and the blue one has some nicks near the on/off switch.  But nothing that will affect use.
