NATIVE SON by Richard Wright
Harpers, 1968(?)
Facsimile of 1st Edition (Book Club)
Condition: About Fine in VG- dj
This book, a brutally honest depiction of black, urban ghetto life, was probably the first great novel written by an African-American. Wright's first novel was an immediate best seller in 1940 and won for its author more than one award. This was likely the first facsimile edition of the first edition; there is a book club depression on the back cover of this copy. It's really a semi-facsimile: The dust jacket differs from the first and there is no price on the front flap. A line has been added on the copyright page: "Copyright renewed 1968 c by Ellen Wright". The book is in excellent condition; the jacket has a 1-1/2" and two 1" edge tears, as well as some other wear, mostly on the edges. Tight binding and unmarked pages.
