This is a signed copy of the US First Edition of "Taken on Trust", the autobiography of Terry Waite, the Archbishop of Canterbury's envoy, who was taken hostage in the Middle East. It was published in 1993. I obtained the signature at a book-signing in Los Angeles at the time of publication. The book and the dust jacket are in very good condition. Terence Hardy "Terry" Waite CBE (born 31 May 1939) is an English humanitarian and author. Waite was the Assistant for Anglican Communion Affairs for the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, in the 1980s. As an envoy for the Church of England, he travelled to Lebanon to try to secure the release of four hostages, including the journalist John McCarthy. He was himself kidnapped and held captive from 1987 to 1991.
