Bluefields by Marshall Styler Cd

From 1970 to 1985, Marshall Styler recorded and toured with the renowned Rochester, N.Y. rock band Duke Jupiter. The band had seven albums to their credit on record labels Mercury, Epic,C.B.S., and Motown. In 1986 he left the Rock scene and moved his home in New York to Austin, Tx. Although he was the lead singer and songwriter for the band, he began to feel limited by lyrics and started composing intrumental pieces. Marshall's music is not space or soundscape music. He writes intrumental pieces that have a definite structure based around definite melodies. Without lyrics there is a dreamlike quality inherent in his music. From 1993 to 1998 Marshall composed the Red River Trilogy. The collection includes Bluefields, Mockingbird Station, and Red River Crossing. Using the same instrumental style he perfected with the Trilogy, Marshall composed the album Jericho. This CD portrays subsequent years of his life using his music to reflect both joy and pain during! that time. His most recent release, The Twilight Concertos, has been described as peaceful when times are stressed, uplifting when it's time to celebrate, and comforting when it's time to relax. "I consider myself an impressionist in the spirit of the French impressionist painters - Degas, Monet, and Matisse. They worked with color and emotion and have a powerful elegance that I strive for in my music." Marshall Styler
