SUMMARY
This does not work in place of every model. Just because it looks the same or similar does not mean it will work for you. Please follow our advice and check your part number BEFORE ordering. Seriously!!
This is a VERY hard-to-find VW Beetle am/fm/CD Monsoon radio. It does not
have the Satellite button, so it is not satellite capable. It does play standard audio format CDs and
CDRs, as well as MP3 format CDRs. You MUST have the Monsoon system to use this! You MUST match your part number too! Returns are not accepted so please heed our warning.
It is manufactured for Volkswagen by Delco. It is Delco part number 12244713 or
28007235. It is VW part number 1C0035196M. They had various versions
of this radio, depending on the options your vehicle had. If yours has a
different letter at the end (other than M), there is probably something
different about it. It may not be a major difference but it is a
difference. Please confirm this is the one you need by matching it to
your radio or asking your VW dealer because returns are not accepted.
There is a factory serial number and code sticker sheet attached to the radio. Code entry procedures appear below. You may have to enlist the help of your VW dealer if you misplace it or experience problems.
There are no returns on this item. If you do not like 'No Returns' listings, please do not purchase this item.
It was a factory option in the following vehicles, but that doesn't mean it works for you just because your vehicle is listed. Make sure you have the Monsoon system and your part number matches because returns are not accepted.
- 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle **
- 2005 Volkswagen New Beetle
- 2006 Volkswagen New Beetle
- 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle
** The early 2004 Beetles had a different wiring configuration and this does not work in them. If you have a 2004, the last 6 digits of your VIN must be 410661 or higher in order for it to be compatible in your vehicle.

This radio is in nice condition. It is new. The face has a weird texture to it that scratches very easily and they have been handled a few times. As a result, these may have very minor blemishes on them. But they are new and have never been used. Overall a very nice radio.
We are including a 90 day warranty* on this unit.
THEFT CODE ENTRY PROCEDURES
Please do NOT follow instructions you find elsewhere. Some VW radios (especially older ones) use a different procedure that will cause your radio to lock temporarily, if used. Locate the 4-digit security code for your radio. (New or remanufactured VW radios purchased from ReplacementRadios often include the code on a sticker affixed to the top of the radio.) If you don't have it, you will need to obtain it from a VW dealer. They can look it up if you provide your VIN and the serial number from the radio. (It looks kind of like VIN too.) Some dealers charge for this service, while others do not. After you install your radio and reconnect the battery, your radio will display SAFE momentarily, then it will usually change to display the number 1000. Once you see this, follow the procedures below:
- Repeatedly press and release preset 1 until the first digit of the code appears
- Repeatedly press and release preset 2 until the second digit of the code appears
- Repeatedly press and release preset 3 until the third digit of the code appears
- Repeatedly press and release preset 4 until the fourth digit of the code appears
- Press and hold the 'Up' (Fwd) Seek/Scan button for at least 2 seconds
If you enter the incorrect code, a number will appear next to the word SAFE. If the wrong code is entered twice, the radio will display SAFE 2 and will be temporarily locked. If this happens you need to leave the radio on continuously for approximately one hour so it will reset back to regular SAFE mode. You do not need to have the engine running but the radio must be powered on and showing the SAFE 2 message the whole time. Once 1000 is displayed on the screen again, you can enter the code using the procedures above. (It may display SAFE instead, which usually just requires you to turn the key off for a few seconds, then back on, for it to switch to 1000 on the display.)
We
are NOT a salvage yard. We are NOT affiliated with a salvage yard. We
don't have the typical auto parts mentality. We specialize in one
thing: factory audio/video. We are very picky and strive to provide
radios that we would be proud to have in our own vehicles. When you buy
a radio from us, you are getting a unit that is guaranteed to work.
Occasionally problems arise with electronics. However, please know that we never knowingly send out a
radio with problems. It is not in our best
interest to send out defective units because we waste time and money
replacing them under our warranty. We aim to keep our returns low and
our customer satisfaction high. Please give us a chance to add you to
our long list of satisfied customers.
SHIPPING & HANDLING
- Shipping cost is based on weight and zip code. This site does the figuring, not us. If you feel their calculation is high, you might be underestimating the package weight and/or current shipping costs from our zip code (62401) to yours. Please don't ding us for shipping in the ratings, as we have no control over ever-increasing carrier rates.
- We will enter a tracking number into your order details here on the site. They will email it to you if your notification preferences are set correctly.
- A signature is not typically required. If you are not home to receive the package, it will most likely be left at your door. Please monitor it's progress and arrange to collect it when it arrives.
- This site provides a section/tab in each ad for Shipping information. We encourage you to check that section for prices, methods, time-frames, etc.
