Historique de BANDOL. The name comes from Bendorium, situated on the edge of the town Tauroentum and was occupied by the Romans. Their empire extended throughout Provence on the victory of Sextius Calvinus over the 'Ligures' in the year 124.
King Henry IV donated the Bandol territory, including the islands of Bendor and Rousse, to Antonine de Boyer, the first Lord of Bandol who built his castle with a fort, currently the Castle residence.
On August 12 1715, the territory of Bandol was separated amd that of La Cadiere was made official. Lord Francois de Boyer de Foresta promised housing and land to any individual who would settle there. Thus marks the birth of Bandol's community.
