Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1930's Universal horror film, SON OF FRANKENSTEIN, released in 1939 and directed by Rowland V. Lee. One of the sons of Frankenstein (Basil Rathbone) finds his father's monster (Boris Karloff) in a coma and revives him, only to discover that he is controlled by Ygor (Bela Lugosi), who is bent on using the monster for revenge.

Printed for the film's 1953 US theatrical re-release by Realart, the image features an interior long shot inside the Frankenstein family castle and depicts Baron Wolf von Frankenstein (Basil Rathbone) holding a wooden chest with his father's papers discussing how he created his "creation" while his wife, Elsa (Josephine Hutchinson) greets the family nanny, Amelia (Emma Dunn), who cares for their son, Peter (Donnie Dunagan). Credits from the film are depicted within the bottom border. Printed sideways on the verso are duplicate captions that describe the image.

Printed on single-weight stock with a glossy finish, this vintage original photograph is in very good condition with a 3 in. diagonal crease on the top right corner that goes through the upper background area that was reinforced on the verso with a piece of 1 in. wide white tape; a 1.25 in. diagonal crease on the top border near the left corner that just barely affects the image area; one set of staple holes just above Rathbone's right shoulder with signs of wear around them; one set of staple holes on Dunagan's and Dunn's images (not on their faces); two 1.25 in. semi-circular shaped creases in the bottom half of the background area along the right border; a tiny tear on the right border above the bottom corner; a 2 in. vertical scratch in the bottom left of the image area; and numerous tiny surface imperfections scattered across the image. The image quality is razor-sharp with fine detail and nice rich contrast.
