Story Line

In 1983, Chris Wiggs designed the first Polly Pocket doll for his daughter, Kate. The doll was small enough to fit inside a small house made from a powder compact. Bluebird Toys of Swindon, England, licensed the concept and the first toys in the range appeared in stores in 1989. In the early 1990s, toy giant Mattel distributed Polly Pocket toys on behalf of Bluebird. In 1998, Mattel bought the company and redesigned the line.
