The binding is in good condition, the pages are lightly tanned. The maroon cover shows light wear. The jacket is scuffed and edge worn and has a small amount of damage along the spine.  Acceptable. Hardcover.

At a school benefit sale, Peter Hollister buys an old book about early New York tunnels. Tucked in the pages is a message written in Chinese. The only English word in it is, "Help!" The Hollisters take the note to a Chinese friend for translation and learn that the letter was written twenty years before by a Foo Yuen to his brother in China, but was never mailed. (0001544)
