THE FLYING DUTCHMAN, or THE DEATH SHIP

by W. Clark Russell

Lovell, Coryell & Co., 1st U.S. Ed.(?), circa 1895

Condition: Good+

W. Clark Russell wrote novels and stories of the sea and sometimes of horror. This, one of his best novels, combines the two.  This may be the first U..S. edition of the book, first published in England in 1888.  Moderate bumping and wear at cover corners, moderate edge wear (including spine ends) and some other modest bits of exterior wear.  Paper slit at hinges, but holding nicely; binding is intact throughout and often tight.  Pages are age-browned, but not brittle,  and no chipping, creasing or markings in text.  Some writing on  front blank page.  Stain on bottom edges by spine.  Top edges are gilt.  Uncommon book.
