The officer named in the invitation was a member of the Joint US Advisory Team to Thailand. Part of his assignment was an evaluation of the need and ability to move material from point a to point b. The occasion is the dedication of a new repair and maintenance facility which was probably the first one in the country outside of Bangkok. Included is the invitation, some kind of ID card or it even looks like a ticket, and the program which is in Thai and English with photos.  All is in Very Good to Excellent condition. The program is about 6 5/8" x 8 7/8", the invitation 4 3/4" x 8" and the ID card is printed on both sides and a little bigger than a business card.

It appears the invitation had been given to one of the Major's friends, who then gave it to them for a keepsake. Think about it, you do not send an invitation to Bob Hope for a testimonial dinner honoring Bob Hope. The envelope it was in is included.

I suggest that ANY kind of memorabilia related to the Thai railroad of this era must be very scarce.
