Sterling Silver St. Michael Defend Us Lapel Pin

Description

Crafted from high-polished sterling silver, this impressive pin measures approximately 1/2" length by 1-1/16" width and reads "St. Michael the Archangel Defend Us in Battle".  A small cross rests on the lower right.  A sword, symbolizing the sword of the Archangel, flanks the left side.  A plated back secures the pin in place, with a tie-tack back.  

St. Michael is viewed in some traditions as the patron saint of policemen, mariners and those who are in battle.  In the Orthodox Church, he is known as the Commander of the Heavenly hosts: "O ye foremost of the Heavenly hosts... Deliver us from oppression, since ye are the princes of dominions on high." (a hymn to the archangels).
