Narrated by Susan Sarandon, FACING ARTHUR is an intimate documentary that explores the legacy of the Holocaust on individuals many decades later. Centenarian Arthur Lederman was a famous and respected violinist in his native Poland during the 1930s, but managed to escape to New York shortly before the beginning of the Second World War. He ended up the only member of his family to survive the Holocaust. Many years later, when Lederman is old and too frail to leave his apartment, he meets Christoph Erbsloeh, an exchange student sent by an aid agency to provide him with some companionship. But Erbsloeh is the grandson of a Nazi soldier, and the meeting between the two begins a friendship, built on love of classical music, that eventually confronts the lasting effects of the Holocaust on both Jews and Germans.
