The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed a worldwide total of $756 million, becoming the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2010. It debuted as the top-grossing film at the box office, a position held for three consecutive weeks in the United States and Canada. In addition, Shrek Forever After became DreamWorks Animation's second-highest-grossing film at the foreign box office.
