In this particular rendition, a boxer named Joe Pendleton *dies* in a plane crash, except he wasn't supposed to die, the angel was just a bit too hasty in his job....

Fast forward to 1978 where Joe Pendleton is now a quarterback in the film "Heaven Can Wait" this time though, he dies from an auto accident.... As the reincarnated version his death is imminent from his cheating wife and business associate. This is the version I saw first. ....
