(2) Two Antique Cabinet Card Photographs. These two images were removed from the very back page of an album containing photos of students and faculty from the Farmington (Maine) State Normal School, circa 1899. From the images it appears more likely this couple was either employed as workers at the school, or were perhaps parents or family of one of the students. No photographer or other information provided on the photos except their names which appeared on the album page. Each photo measures approximately 4.25 X 6.5 including mount. Condition: These are original photographs, not copies or reproductions. They are in very good condition.. Comments: The school was established by the Maine Legislature on October 9, 1863. It was one of two normal schools to be established in Maine at the time and its purpose was to train teachers to provide a quality education to children in Maine schools. The school officially opened on August 24, 1864 and from the beginning was referred to as Farmington State Normal School, although that did not become its official name until 1889. Some of the names of those pictured were written on the front or back, while others were written on the album page beneath the image in which case the clipped name will be included with the photo.
