Paper size of this photo print is 2 3/4" x 4 3/4". On unmarked standard print paper. This print was very likely made soon after it was taken and likely at Saipan itself or on a ship there. This came to me as part of a group identified as being Saipan and included was a shot of the base Chapel which confirms it. The exact date was not noted and as the island is listed in Guinness as being the most consistent climate we can't really tell what time of year this is.

A really striking shot of sailors manning a coastal gun, probably performing maintenance. I think it is a five inch barrel. It is right up to the last inch of the beach too, you can see the tides reach just short of it. What looks like some kind of blockhouse and another gun emplacement behind.

Very Good to Excellent condition, well kept.
