For those who love to repair and refurbish vintage fountain pens, here is a specialized tool that will facilitate the removal and refitting of the filler unit on any standard size Parker Vacumatic fountain pen. This is a small precision machined wrench made by J&J Tool for The Fountain Pen Hospital (NY) and is a must for anybody who works on Vacumatic pens.
Easy to use, the front of the wrench threads on to the filler threads, then the pressure lever is squeezed tight allowing the filler unit to be unscrewed from the back of the barrel. Just reverse the process to re-insert the filler unit after you've done the necessary repairs to make the unit functional again. It does take some practice, but you can find a number of 'You Tube' tutorials on-line showing how to work on the filler unit using a tool like this one.
I got this wrench from The Fountain Pen Hospital (NY) in the late-1990's and used it on a number of pens over the years, but have changed my direction in collecting so it's time to let this one go.
SPECS:
Made of precision machined steel by J&J Tool (marked "J & J" on the lever), weighs 4.7 oz., threaded barrel is 3" long, threaded opening is 5/16" wide before being clamped down with lever, pressure lever is 3" long.
Unit shows some minor scuffing and tiny scratches, but is still in perfect working condition and will get the job done without breaking the pen or hurting your fingers.
