Set of 2 Chinese Mandarin/Nobles Carved Wood Relief Wall Plaques

These two framed figures may be of Mandarins or noblemen from the Qing Dynasty. Candidly, I do not have the acumen to determine what they are supposed to actually represent, or when they were made. Each appears to have been hand carved and hand painted from a wood block; in other words they are not "framed" but carved into the border.. I got them in an estate sales thinking, at first, that they were a European  medieval  representation. ach measures 17 inches long, and is 4 1/4 wide. The thickness is one inch. 7". The paint appears to be acrylic with a lacquered finish. Ready to hang from sawtooth hangers (indicating contemporary  origin) affixed on the back.
