Interesting set of four redware toby jugs with majolica glaze. Graduated set measuring from 6 1/2" T to 4" T. Largest toby has a manufacturer-made very small glaze rub to right top edge of hat brim and very small glaze flake on top of nose that has darkened considerably. Next toby is inscribed with a 4 on the bottom and has a small glaze flake (darkened) on left side of hair. Third toby has a small rim chip on top right edge of hat and the smallest toby, as shown in the images, has a significant chip at the back which does not show from the front. We believe that these are English. Certainly 19th Century.
Dimension: 6 1/2" Tallest. Period of Production: Victorian 1838-1901.
