Apollo Command Module Cuff Links and Tie Tack Set

Same as the set donated to the Smithsonian

These Apollo command module cuff links are part of a commemorative set that includes a matching tie tack.

On July 20, 1969, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first human beings to walk on the lunar surface while Collins orbited the Moon in the Apollo 11 command module.  This cuff links and tie tac set were created to memorialize that mission.

My husband received these as a gift after working on the Apollo 11 mission.  He was an electronics expert, and I seem to recall him telling me that he was working for RCA at the time.
As far as I have been told, a complete 3 pc set like this is very rare, as this cuff links and tie tac set were only given to certain people who worked on the mission.

An identical set belonging to NASA astronaut Michael Collins was donated to the Smithsonian. When Collins became the director of the National Air and Space Museum, he loaned his set of cufflinks to the Museum for display in the "Apollo to the Moon" gallery. He then gave the set to the National Collection as permanent donations in 1984.
