MORE ABOUT THE MOVIE: The army looks like a pretty fun place to be in this goofy curio from 1942. What there is of a story follows some lucky recruits as they go through a basic training that consists mostly of attending USO dances headlined by the Andrews Sisters and the hot trumpet of bandleader Harry James. There's also some fancy footwork from "The Jivin' Jack & Jills." Drill Sergeant Shemp Howard (Three Stooges) tries hard to convince the boys to take the war seriously, but new recruit Dick Foran is much too busy wooing the Colonel's daughter (Jennifer Holt). The film concludes with a rousing montage of war mobilization footage as the Andrews Sisters sing "We've Got a Job to Do." This is a very interesting mix of comedy, songs, and enlistment propaganda.
