"THE MEMPHIS BELLE" and "THUNDERBOLT" Reader's Digest Home Entertainment Division. Running time 80 minutes. Released 1987. NTSC U.S./Canada format. Hard shell case. Take part in two daring daylight air raids over Europe. Your aircraft: a B-17 Flying Fortress and a P-47 Thunderbolt, two classic planes of World War II. The Memphis Belle is the name of your B-17. Your mission: bomb submarine pens at Wilhelmshaven, Germany. After takeoff, you cross the invisible line of Germany radar, dodge antiaircraft fire, spot the target, set the bombsight, drop your payload. The first part of your mission is over. Now comes the hard part: returning to England in one piece. In the companion film you pilot a P-47 from the island of Corsica. Your objective: destroy a bridge behind enemy lines north of Rome. Take off. Fly in close formation. When you spot the target, peel off, dive, drop your two bombs, and climb up and away. On the way back to Corsica, attack other enemy targets with rockets. Then a safe landing. Mission accomplished. But not all the P-47's you left with this morning return. Condition: Video cassette and case are in excellent, nearly-new condition. This video comes from a private collection, and is not a former rental.
