A traveller, poet and diplomat-Wilfrid Scawen Blunt (1840-1922) entered the British diplomatic corps and worked in Athens, Constantinople, Frankfort, Lisbon, Madrid, Paris and Argentina. After his retirement in 1872 he married Anne Isabella Noel (the only known descendant of Lord Byron). They traveled on horseback through the Mid-East and lived in Cairo. He opposed British rule in Egypt and was in favor of Irish home rule. For the latter he even served a prison term. Condition: Ex-Libris exterior and interior markings.
