This is a mini biography of 5th president of the Republic of the Philippines, DIOSDADO P. MACAPAGAL (December 30, 1961 - December 30, 1965). MACAPAGAL was called the "Poor boy from Lubao". 

He advocated Asian unity and supported programs for the protection of Filipino traders and industries. He promoted the national language, culture and history.

It was during his term that the celebration of the Independence was transferred to June 12, 1898 , the day EMILIO AGUINALDO declared independence from Spain.
