I can't seem to find this mug anywhere on the 'net! I was trying to get a ballpark figure for a year to associate with this thing, but to no avail. It certainly looks '70s, but that's a shot in the dark . . . blind-folded.
The mug is slightly over-sized, but with the tapering it may not hold any more coffee than a standard-sized cup. It's a pleasing brown with the color 'thinning' a bit around the lip of the cup, giving a nice effect. The gold banding and writing is almost lost on the brown. There is a score angling down about a 1/4" from the lip and stopping at just below the "y". It could have been done by a ring worn by one cupping the mug rather than using the handle, but that's just a guess. It's pretty insignificant and doesn't really detract from the fine-ness of this old thing. Another slight score is just above the copyright symbol on the same side, and another on the opposite side under the "as" in "Taste". The base has "USA" in relief in the ceramic. Overall, the cup is in excellent shape with no abrasions, crazings, or cracks.
Dimensions:
3 5/8" Tall
2 7/8" Diameter (mouth)
4" Diameter (bulge)
4 5/8" Wide at Handle
If you'd like an old-timer to commiserate with you about middle-aged spread, or would like a little feel of the old diner cup of coffee, this mug may fit the bill.
