A tablecloth should have a 6" - 10" drop. To select the right cloth, add approximately 12 to 20 inches to the actual length and width of your table. Banquet-sized tables, which are extra-wide, will use an oversized cloth that is 70" in width.
Still, the drop length is somewhat of a personal preference, so add inches for a drop that will suit your needs and style. When in doubt, err on the larger size; it is better that your tablecloth is too long than too short. Here's a little equation: TABLE LENGTH + (DROP X 2) = THE TABLECLOTH LENGTH YOU'LL NEED So for example, if your table is 60", you would calculate the cloth as follows: 60" TABLE + 12" DROP X 2 (24") = 84" TABLECLOTH.
