• There are four basic tablecloth shapes: oblong, oval, round and square. To begin, you must know the dimensions of your table. Oblong cloths may be used on oval tables as well. The chart below will show you what size tablecloth will fit your table's dimensions:

A tablecloth should have a 6" - 10" drop. To select the right cloth, add approximately 12 to 20 inches to the actual length and width of your table. Banquet-sized tables, which are extra-wide, will use an oversized cloth that is 70" in width.

Still, the drop length is somewhat of a personal preference, so add inches for a drop that will suit your needs and style. When in doubt, err on the larger size; it is better that your tablecloth is too long than too short.
