This vintage Art Nouveau style gold pendant by Sarah Coventry is from the 1965 Molten Line. It was called "Molten Topaz" and was considered a free form pendant. It has a very large unfoiled dark emerald cut glass topaz rhinestone set into a shiny golden brushed and smooth design, often referred to as a flame. It is open in the back. Sarah Coventry was sold in the 1950s and 1960s mostly at home parties. This is a book piece that is featured in "Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry Volume II” by Marcia Brown on page 151. The company used several different signatures, this is signed Sarah Cov on the back of the pendant.
The pendant measures approximately 3 1/4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide. The stone alone is 3/4 inches by 1 inch. It is in very nice vintage condition as you can see by the pictures. There is some slight gold finish loss where the silver shows through, but it creates a nice older patina. I have taken many pictures and enlarged them so you can see the details for yourself. The chain has the original metal tag attached marked SARAH COV with the copyright symbol and SC on the opposite side. It will be included with the pendant.
This pendant can be worn on a variety of chains and will work with casual and dressy clothing.
