Nine-time National League All-Star RON SANTO was a home-run hitter and a five-time Gold Glove recipient who played for the Cubs from 1960 -1 1973 and for the Chicago White Sox in 1974. He was diagnosed with diabetes at 18 in 1958. 

He became a member of the Cubs broadcasting team booth with Pat Hughes as the 'voice of the Cubs ' on WGN radio until his death in December 3, 2010.
