This is for a black and white copy of a vintage 1940's "Detroit News the Home Newspaper "quilt transfers plus pattern layout copy. The pattern was a hand out from them with 20 different blocks displayed plus one with the layout illustration & instructions. There are 20 different rhyme characters .Each block when finished will measure 8" x 10".The layout sheet gives quilt assembly instructions and an overview of some of the blocks. Each character sheet gives the motif and suggestions for embroidering/applique that designs plus some neat ideas like: adding ruffled lace to Mary Quite Contrary's pantalets/using French knots to make Mary's Lamb soft & wooly/put a little patterned quilt over My Son John/make an applique red&white checkered gingham tablecloth for Jack Sprat/and many more. These may all be done in redwork which was popular at the time of the 30's.Or use colored thread or some parts may be appliqued. They even suggest,by means of carbon paper, transferring these simple outline designs to a child's wall (3'/4' from the floor)to forma border around the room that may be painted.Great thought..You will receive a copy of all 21 sheets.
