Here in this listing we have an unmarked vintage Cornucopia “Horn of Plenty” Dusty Pink Art Pottery Vase with a delicate floral motif and genuine gold trim. Many of these old decorative vases were quite popular in their time and “Made in the USA”. They were created by companies in the Midwest ( Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania) such as Redwing, Hull, Roseville, Royal Haeger, Frankoma and McCoy during the early part of the 20th century and also manufactured by many others during the 1920’s-1930’s and 1940’s boom in art pottery. Many of these pottery manufacturers have long since gone out of business, so these remaining are truly one-of-a-kind.
This vase measures 8” inches tall by 5-1/4” inches across the top and 4-1/4” inches across the base and his highly glazed.
Condition: Very Good Condition. Due to age, the glaze has crazing throughout which only adds interest to its history and there appears to be two manufacturer’s defects one being a glaze pop at the bottom base edge that traveled into a small hairline fissure on top of the glaze, and another one at the top lip point where it looks like a fold-over crack during the firing process of this vase.
I’m not sure if this is porcelain or ceramic, but most of these were considered art pottery for display and/or use as a flower vase. These minor manufacturing flaws however, do not take away from the use or function of this piece and is still a beautiful item for display in a china cabinet or a bunch of wildflowers hanging over the top for that shabby chic appearance.
FINE PRINT: As with most antique and vintage items I do not clean, polish or in any way change the content of this item due to possibly affecting its original prominence and value. I leave that decision up to the new owner and selling this item “As Is – As Found”.
And… as with ANY vintage item they have been previously owned so there may be signs of normal wear. Look at pictures carefully to determine item condition for yourself before you purchase
