An old French Heirloom famous throughout France documented by Vilmorin in the 1880's . Often mistaken for squash, bumpy 5-8 lbs fruits have one of the most fragrant aroma and flavor among all melons. Succulent, dark salmon-orange flesh fruits are best served at room temperature.
Melons do not slip off the vine when mature so it is best to harvest when slightly still green and let ripen indoors. Prefers hot, dry growing season.
