The Handheld Pulse Oximeter's main purpose is to measure and record the pulse rate and functional oxygen saturation (SpO2). It can be used for both clinical and domestic usage.
What is SpO2?
The percentage of oxygen saturation found in the blood is called SpO2. It is determined by the total hemoglobin of the arterial blood and the oxyhemoglobin's (HbO2) percentage. To reflect the respiration function, the SpO2 acts as a vital physiological parameter. The formula can be defined as:
SpO2 = HbO2/ (HbO2 +Hb) ×100%
The hemoglobin that releases oxyhemoglobins (oxygenized hemoglobin) is HbO2.
Default Low Limit and Range of Normal SpO2:
Hypoxia is determined with the SpO2 value drops below 94%, commonly in healthy people. So, the SpO2<90%, according to most researchers, is the default threshold for determining anoxia. Thus, SpO2 is generally set at a low limit of 90%.
Factors that affect the SpO2 accuracy (interference reason):
Factors causing low SpO2 value (pathology reason):
