This is a lovely old estate linen item I purchased many years ago but never used. It is a thin gauzy, wispy type material which has been hand embroidered. It has a printed design and has been mostly finished but you can see light pattern marks for primarily leaves which were never finished. I think it could be used just as it is without finishing, or you could finish the stitches.
It has a beautiful crochet inset strip on each side. The off-white gauzy fabric has some yellow/brown small age spots, but it still has a great old look. The edges are unfinished, so you could hem them, but they really look fine as they are.
In the photos it is shown on a double bed. It could also be used on a single bed, and the drop would be deeper on the sides, or even a queen size, if you just used it as a top cover for other bed linens.
Measurements - the crochet insets are 1.75 inches wide each. The area between the crochet insets measures approx 36 inches. The drop on one side measues approx 18 inches and the other side 19". The length is approx 92 inches. The total width is 36+1.75+1.75+ 18+19=approx 76.5 inches.
I showed the pattern the way I think it goes in the first photo, with the hat upside down, used as a basket. I also showed it the opposite direction. This is a beautiful old textile, not perfect, but very attractive.
