Capitol Rape is an intense story of intrigue in the Colorado legislature. The author draws upon his own legislative experience to provide the reader with a glimpse of how the legislative process works. Upset with the state's spiraling population growth and resulting water, traffic, and quality of life issues; the governor, liberal Democrat Joe Stewart, teams up with an independent thinking Republican state senator, Marilyn Wainright, to introduce a popular land use bill. The author weaves an interesting plot of sex, party politics, lobbyist influence, and diverse personalities as the bill wends its way through the legislative process. Along the way the reader will find out just how complex the legislative process is and how situation dependent new legislation can be. A large cast of colorful, fictional characters add to the suspense of the plot.
