This Northrop F-5E Tiger II kit comes with Y-Kraft decals
for our T-38 NAVY Fighter Weapons School, AKA TOP GUN.
YouTube has several videos of this aircraft in different paint schemes that you should watch for excellent reference! You can always google F-5E US Navy and see plenty of images!
This item is manufactured by "D-4" as a "puzzle model" and is designed, we suppose, to be put together and taken apart over and over? But not being the only model of this aircraft we have ever seen in 1/144 scale, we offer it as a serious scale model to be built by skilled hobbyists who have the tools and materials to give it justice.
We recommend you acquire some Squadron Putty or equivalent. One tube will last for years for a busy 1/144 model kit builder.
The kit is very nicely made and includes a stand. Another interesting feature is that the landing gear parts are molded in CLEAR plastic which we've never seen before, and serves to enhance the appearance of the model on its stand. Of course you can paint the landing gear if you wish.The built up examples in the photos are our 1/144 scale resin 2-seat T-38 kits but the US Navy Fighter Weapons School also flew [flies?] the F-5e's. They also play the roles of "Migs" in the movies.
We provide decals for the kits from Y-Kraft in Japan.
Some "D-4" kit reviews indicate there are no landing gear doors provided, so we include some sheet styrene plastic for creating the landing gear doors for the kits.
Note: This kit is not in it's original box, it comes bagged with the "kit box art."
