"The 1911 Lumberman notes who will be present for the annual commissary manager's meeting, with Sam T. White representing "Ozan Mercantile Company" of Prescott, AR. Horace E. Bemis began a career in the lumber business in Texas, and moved to Prescott, Arkansas. At Prescott he established a sawmill called Ozan Lumber Co., was VP of Prescott & NW Railroad Co., and director of Ozan Mercantile Co. The 1911 Lumberman proves that Ozan Mercantile Company was a commissary, probably for Ozan Lumber Company and possibly also for the local railroad enterprise" (Worth Point).
