Born: Active 1930's - 1940's.
Regina Normand. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Montreal, Quebec. Active 1930’s – 1940’s.

Regina Normand and her sister Lucie were flat-plane woodcarvers. They made carvings of Quebec figures in traditional costume and situations. Their carvings were usually signed in scrip or with a stamp in black ink:  ‘R. Normand  Montreal’ or ‘Fait a la Main, Quebec, Canada’. Their work was almost always painted and their carvings were generally smaller – in the 3 1/2 inch to 5 1/2 inch range

*Other members of the Normand family may have been involved in the flat-plane work as well.  The Normand artists stopped carving after the death of one of the sisters in an airplane crash in the early 1950’s.
