These Ten Commandments are hand- carved from natural olive wood, in Bethlehem.
The texture of the wood makes each statuette unique, and the craftsman's talent and sincere faith give the beloved image an indescribable warmth.
According to the Old Testament, the Ten Commandments were proclaimed by God on Mount Sinai, before the people of Israel in the third month after the Exodus from Egypt (Exodus 19: 1) and inscribed by him on the tablets of stone of the Testament (Exodus 31:18; Deut. 9:10).
In an alliance between the people of Israel and God, the Ten Commandments are the foundation of Jewish religious understanding of the world. Following the commandments is imputed by God to every person who is affected by the union.
The Ten Commandments deal with issues of fundamental importance in Judaism and Christianity: the greatest duty (worship only God), the greatest harm to man (murder), the greatest harm to family ties (adultery), the greatest harm to commerce and the law. (perjury), the greatest duty to generations (honor to parents), the greatest duty to society (truthfulness), the greatest damage to movable property (theft).
