Gaye Delorme - Blue Wave Sessions (CD 1990 Epic WZK 80147) Near MINT

Description

Internationally renowned guitarist, vocalist and tunesmith, Gaye Delorme is one of the most recorded aural artists on the North American music scene today. This Grammy-nominated songwriter worked for many years scoring films for Columbia pictures and recently returned to Canada to embrace his original love of live performance. Delorme possesses a musical range unparalleled-- from gut wrenching blues to improvisational jazz-influenced experimentation to stunning flamenco styling-- he's mapped the existing musical territory and beyond. He brings his wide-ranging musical influences, from the country stylings of Chet Atkins and Doc Watson to the Brazilian Jobim, into his production work as well. Gaye has produced such Canadian superstars as k.d. Lang and Jann Arden and co-produced several artists in Los Angeles with critically acclaimed composer David Foster. For the last 10 years Gaye has appeared as signature performer at the Edmonton Folk Festival where he's hosted the International Guitar Stage. His own studio work has brought forth five fantastic albums: the "Blue Wave Sessions", a work much compared with Dire Straight's Mark Knoffler, "Borderline", a country rock innovation, "Beautiful Guitar" an international musical exploration of original compositions for Spanish guitar, "Rodeo Songs", some kic! kin' country comedy crafted around Gaye's groundbreaking hit and, his latest, a compilation of "Gaye's Best". Winner of the Premier's Award for Excellence, Gaye has caught the attention of fans and performers alike, prompting home-grown hero Colin James to exclaim "He's a monster," while also raising the profile of Canadian music abroad-- gaining recognition from celebrities like the much admired, and much missed, Stevie ray Vaughn who labeled Gaye "One of the best I've heard." Industrial punk-rock band Korn enlisted one of Gaye's songs for their latest album, a release that is presently toping American rock charts. With other artists continuing to show interest his popular works and his own albums selling steadily, Gaye has turned his attention to the development of new talent; acting as a quiet but powerful force behind the contemporary Canadian pop and country music scenes. Recently, on June 2, 2000, Gaye was the inaugural Artist to be honoured in the Pacific Music Industry Association's new "Celebrate" Series. Comfortably seated in the perfect concert setting of the Granville Island Arts Club Theatre the audience was treated to a "one-of-a-kind" experience of the genius that is Gaye Delorme.
