This lovely oval mourning brooch is gold filled with a pretty scroll design on the frame surrounded by navy blue enamel.  The woven hair is under the original glass. The hardware is a C clasp and Tube hinge. The hair is very dark so not obvious that hair is behind the glass.  Unless you are a mourning jewelry lover, that is...  :)

This is a larger brooch measuring approx 1 3/8" x 2."  across to the end of the pin stem that extends beyond the edge of the pin just a bit.  There are a couple of small spots inside of the glass (lint?) but nothing detracting.  The glass is nice.

Please see photos.

Not perfect but a very nice old pin that was loved dearly by someone in our past. A must have for your mourning collection!

Just a beautiful antique treasure!

Please see pictures as part of full description and measurements.

*A word about British hallmarking.  The standard mark identifies the item as being silver.  The mark that indicates sterling silver is called the lion passant.  The lion passant, with the lion’s head facing to the left, was introduced in 1822.
