The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was a large, luxurious airliner operated by Transocean Air Lines. It was known for its pressurized cabin, two passenger decks, and cocktail lounge. 
Features:
  • Capacity: Could seat up to 100 passengers on the main deck and 14 in the lower deck lounge 
  • Speed: Cruised at 300–340 mph 
  • Range: Had a maximum operating range of 3,500 miles 
  • Pressurized cabin: The Stratocruiser had a pressurized cabin, which was an innovative feature for its time 
  • Two decks: The Stratocruiser had two passenger decks, with the main cabin on the upper deck and the cocktail lounge on the lower deck 
History:
  • The Stratocruiser was developed from the C-97 Stratofreighter military transport, which was based on the B-29 Superfortress 
  • Pan American World Airways introduced the Stratocruiser in 1949 
  • The Stratocruiser's mainline service lasted only about a decade due to high operating costs and the introduction of the Boeing 707
