Agate is a variety of silica, characterised by its fineness of grain and brightness of colour. Agate is one of the most common materials used in the art of hardstone carving and are used to make ornaments such as pins, brooches or other types of jewellery, Most agates occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or ancient lavas.
These are special Tumblestones that have been produced from some of the most beautiful, and sometimes hard to obtain, minerals from around the world. These specimens are sold as individual stones.
Tumblestones or 'tumbled stones' as they are also referred to are made by 'tumbling' rough crystals, minerals or rocks in grit for a number of days in a tumbler machine. Different grades of grit are used in the process until the rough edges are smoothed, then polish is added to bring a soft shiny surface to the specimen. Because of this process each stone will be unique in shape and colour.
ACTUAL AS SEEN: The image shows the EXACT specimen you will receive. The specimen has been carefully hand selected and photographed. Measurements are as accurate as possible, though be aware measuring precise dimensions can be difficult from irregular shaped items. Whilst we portray colours as close to life-like as we can, colours will vary if taken in sunlight, indoors, from monitor to monitor and device to device.
