• Author: Jack L. Carter (1929-2020)

• Illustrator: Marjorie C. Leggitt

• Publisher: Mimbres Publishing Silver City, NM U.S.A. 2006

This second edition of Trees and Shrubs of Colorado (2006) is more comprehensive than the first, published in 1988. The number of woody plants described has been doubled to 295 species, with the keys and descriptions rewritten and scientific names updated. The book is expanded to include 120 new illustrations and a new section of 185 color photographs that bring forth the beauty of Colorado's unique woody flora.

This is a field guide, not a textbook. It is intended to be carried on hikes and field trips to enhance your study of the site where the plants are found.

Jack L. Carter (1929-2020), was a professor in the Biology department at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. He remained there for 22 years where the herbarium was later named in his honor. This copy is signed by Professor Carter.
