This project was carried out between 29 January and 23 April, 1982.  The excavations were directed primarily to the removal of wall foundations and associated features in preparation for the Chapel's reconstruction. The phase was subsequently extended  to include additional testing immediately to the east of the Chapel site, and  several small test pits in a variety of other locations.
