Starfish are widely criticized for causing tremendous harm to marine species with its economic damage amounting to 400M USD every year. To address this problem, local governments purchase the starfish. Since the collected starfish are of no use, the governments end up spending an extra budget to burn them down. In the middle, however, we are getting free starfish supply from the government and use them for 100% upcycling, through which three components are extracted: bone chips, collagen and waste liquid. Bone chips are used for our deicer, collagen for cosmetics, and the remaining waste liquid for organic fertilizer.

Starfish bone chips have a porous structure that can effectively adsorb the extremely harmful chloride ions and consequently protect the environment. To explain our key technology briefly, the electrically polarized porous structure adsorbs chloride ions to make chemical equilibrium. As widely concerned, chloride ion harms our environment when in high concentration, and the porous structure plays the significant role of controlling chloride ion and protects our environment.
ECO-ST’s bead type and special coating not only improved the melting performance but solved the solidification and respiration issues. Unlike commonly-used flake type granulars, ECO-ST is advanced with ‘bead’ type with special coating. This led to outstanding penetration, maximizing melting performance by 166% in comparison to road salt. Not only that, it effectively facilitates long-term storage without solidification, and remains safe for pet paws and respiratory organs.
