This energy-filled fun fest combines songs, skits, and games to introduce preschool fundamentals (shapes, colors, numbers, and stories), hosted by five enthusiastic teens so unabashed in their zaniness that they end up being super-cool preschool buddies--like having a handful of summer-camp counselors in your living room. Beginning with the song, "Hide Your Eyes and Count to Ten," Shaun, Karla, Jennifer, Kimee, and Curtis blast off on a high-octane romp incorporating puppets, props, crazy costumes, and live-action footage. During this trio of episodes, they become weather superheroes dressed up as Bolt Boy and Sunshine Girl; they sing their theme song with the "voices" of a washing machine, fish, and robot; and create a musical merry-go-round of maracas, bells, and tambourines. One look at the rapt preschool faces in the audience makes it clear that Hi-5 has secured a winning formula of wholesome, interactive edutainment. (Ages 3 to 7) --Lynn Gibson
