A very rare PAIR of Welsbach vented glass globes from around 1890. 3.25-inch fitters. These are a deep ruby red in a flame shape with grapes and leaves along the base—these almost always have only grapes, no leaves. The leaf detail is especially unusual. Each globe has four vent holes to allow heat to dissipate. These would have been made for the Welsbach inverted gas light, but work well on electric lighting, which is how this pair was used since around 1900.
Surface finish is a light satin.
A pair of these is nearly impossible to find—you might find a one-off, but we haven't seen a matched pair. We do, in fact, have four other globes like these which we will list separately.
Condition is very good. Only very minor flea bites on the fitter rims. Some casting perfections in the form of bubbles and one small area where there is minor flaking. The flaking does not go through and is not a crack. The imperfections are minor, especially considering the globes are over 125 years old.
