Antique Thai Style bronze Ayutthaya standing Charity Buddha statue.

The Buddha is is stood samabhanga on a large double lotus leaf pedestal. The lotus flower represents purity, compassion and the giving of great joy to all. 

The figure is remarkable for its realistic yet delicate delineation of the limbs and the robe which seems to cling to the body.

The garment (sanghati) covers both shoulders. The hands hold an alms bowl. This mudra offers charity, compassion and the granting of wishes. It signifies the five perfections: Generosity, Morality, Patience, Effort and Meditative Concentration, through the five extended fingers. 

A very naturalistic succession of wavy folds on the surface of his body revealing the soft contours of the body underneath. His face is handsome with a slight smile and straight aquiline nose.

The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow. His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings. The casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face and fingers. Each detail is rendered perfectly.
