Did you know that Steig's children's book, Shrek!, published in 1990, was the basis for the movie series of the same name? Prior to authoring and illustrating children's books, Steig made drawings and illustrations for the New Yorker. The illustrations in this bound volume were considered too personal for publication in said magazine.
